Question 1

URAD Leather Conditioner can help minimize the appearance of light scratches and scuffs by nourishing the leather and bringing back its natural oils. However, it may not completely remove deep scratches.

Question 2

Will leather conditioner work on vinyl?

Accepted Answer

Leather conditioners, like URAD Leather Conditioner, are specifically designed for natural leather and are not suitable for vinyl. For best results, use products specifically formulated for vinyl care, while reserving URAD Leather Conditioner for genuine leather items.

Question 3

Will leather conditioner soften leather?

Accepted Answer

Regular use of URAD helps prevent leather from becoming dry or brittle, keeping it soft, flexible, and looking its best.

Accepted Answer

How to apply leather conditioner to boots?

Accepted Answer

To apply leather conditioner to boots, start by cleaning the boots to remove dirt and grime. Then, apply a small amount of URAD Leather Conditioner to a soft cloth or sponge. Rub it into the leather in circular motions, ensuring even coverage. Let the conditioner absorb for a few minutes. Regular conditioning keeps your boots soft, supple, and well-protected.

Question 15

How much leather conditioner is too much?

Accepted Answer

Using too much leather conditioner can oversaturate the leather, making it feel sticky or greasy. A little goes a long way, so apply a small, even amount of URAD Leather Conditioner and work it into the leather until it's fully absorbed. If you notice excess conditioner sitting on the surface, you've applied too much. Always start with less, and add more only if necessary to avoid over-conditioning.

Question 16

How to Protect and Condition car seats?

Accepted Answer

Condition and protect your leather seats once or twice a year with URAD leather cream. Mix it half-and-half with Tenderly for smoother application. Always do a patch test first. Use very little—just enough to moisturize without leaving residue. Avoid filling stitches and applying in direct sunlight. This one-step treatment keeps your leather shiny and protected from wear and tear.

Question 17

How to clean leather car seats?

Accepted Answer

Cleaning your leather car seats is simple but crucial, especially for light-colored leather. Regular cleaning, at least monthly, prevents dirt and grease from penetrating protective layers and causing stains. Use AQUILA gentle leather cleaner on seats, vinyl, and upholstery, focusing on armrests and headrests where buildup is common. Spray the cleaner on each panel, wiping it off carefully. For dark seats, spray directly; for light seats, spray on a cloth first. Let it dry before proceeding.

Question 18

How to clean leather furniture?

Accepted Answer

Many leather cleaners contain harmful substances, but Aquila is free of them, making it perfect for frequent cleaning. Clean your leather sofa at least once a month to prevent grease and sebum buildup, which can cause permanent damage. Spray Aquila on a soft cloth and wipe the sofa, focusing on armrests and headrests. For tough stains, spray directly on the leather, but test in a hidden area first. Let it dry before continuing.

Question 19

Moisturizing or Conditioning and Protecting leather furniture?

Accepted Answer

Under normal circumstances, moisturize, condition, and protect your leather furniture once or twice a year using a single application of URAD and TENDERLY mixed together. URAD handles cleaning, conditioning, moisturizing, and protection, while TENDERLY softens and eases application. For porous leather, use more TENDERLY; for less porous leather, use more URAD. Apply the mixture like skin cream—use very little and spread thinly with gentle wipes.

Question 20

How to condition and care for your leather jacket?

Accepted Answer

If needed, clean leather with Aquila by spraying and gently wiping with a lint-free cloth—do not scrub. Shake the URAD jar to liquefy the product, then mix: A) For porous leather: 3/4 Tenderly, 1/4 URAD. B) For non-porous leather: 1/2 Tenderly, 1/2 URAD. For lighter, more porous leather, use more Tenderly (e.g., 9/10 for white lambskin). Test in a hidden area first, then apply with the provided sponge. Repeat once or twice a year.

Question 21

How do you clean leather saddles and tack?

Accepted Answer

Cleaning your saddle after each use is a wise investment of time, and under normal conditions, it takes just seconds. The sooner dust, dirt, or mud is removed, the easier it is! Aquila gentle leather cleaner is perfect for daily use. It contains no wax, alcohol, glycerin, silicone, or chlorine, ensuring safe, effective cleaning. For porous leather like calfskin, spray Aquila on a soft cloth before wiping. For muddy areas near the stirrups, remove excess mud first.

Question 22

Should I Moisturizing or Conditioning your leather saddle and tack?

Accepted Answer

Moisturize and condition your saddle with URAD's one-step leather cream. URAD replenishes leather with natural lanolin, restoring its beauty, while carnauba wax protects against UV rays and rain, adding a natural shine. Use URAD sparingly, like a skin cream—apply very little and spread thin until absorbed. To prevent wax buildup, treat stitching areas last, using the minimal product left in the applicator.

Question 23

Cleaning leather winter boots?

Accepted Answer

Don't let snow, salt, and calcium penetrate your boots. Wipe them with a dry cloth immediately after coming inside. If dirt remains, use Aquila leather cleaner once the boots are dry. URAD also cleans salt and calcium, so you may not need to clean with Aquila before weekly conditioning. For salt swelling, place a cloth soaked in Aquila over the area for a few hours, then apply URAD. Wipe off any white spots that appear as it dries. Repeat if needed.

Question 24

How to Moisturizing or Condition Winter boots?

Accepted Answer

Moisturizing leather winter boots is essential since leather's natural oils dry out over time. Conditioning should be done weekly, and with URAD’s one-application-does-it-all leather cream, it only takes a few seconds per pair. URAD cleans, conditions, and provides excellent basic water-repellent protection in one easy step.

Question 25

Protecting winter leather boots?

Accepted Answer

The marketplace is flooded with oils like Neat’s-foot, beaver, seal, and mink oil, but these don’t easily soak into leather. People often use questionable methods, like heating boots in the oven, to force these oils in. However, these oils merely clog leather pores with grease, failing to condition and moisturize effectively. They attract dirt and contribute to drying out the leather, creating a cycle where dry leather absorbs more moisture. The key to weatherproofing your boots is regular conditioning and moisturizing.

Question 26

How do you clean motorcycle leather?

Accepted Answer

High-speed winds can push dust and dirt into leather, clogging pores and drying it out. Regular cleaning is essential, and a good cleaner should leave no residue and contain no harmful chemicals. Aquila leather cleaner is perfect for this, as it cleans effectively and safely for repeated use. It’s ideal for gloves, chaps, seats, jackets, bags, and more. For tough dirt, grease, or bugs, spray Aquila, let it penetrate, then wipe clean. Repeat as needed.

Question 27

Should I moisturize or condition your motorcycle leather?

Accepted Answer

Moisturize and condition your leather seats with URAD. Its lanolin moisturizes, while carnauba wax protects against UV rays and rain. Alternatively, mix URAD and TENDERLY (½ and ½) for easier application; Tenderly keeps the leather soft and supple.

Question 28

Protection your motorcycle leather?

Accepted Answer

URAD offers sufficient protection through moisturizing, but the frequency of treatment depends on your environment. If you’re frequently in the rain, near the ocean, or in other harsh conditions, consider a stronger waterproofing solution like Sahara. Sahara is an industrial-strength, long-lasting spray that provides the best protection. Clean your jacket with Aquila first, then apply 2 to 3 thin layers of Sahara, allowing each coat to dry. This will protect your leather for 1 to 3 years.

Question 29

Are Nubuck and Suede the same thing?

Accepted Answer

As covered in the "What is Nubuck?" section, Nubuck and Suede are not the same. Suede is made from "splits," a rough, uneven, and less resistant material that’s more porous and prone to staining. Nubuck, however, is made from "grain" leather, which is strong, even, and compact. This makes Nubuck finer and smoother, while Suede has a coarser texture.

Question 30

How to Clean Nubuck?

Accepted Answer

Unless very dirty or stained, avoid soaking Nubuck leather. Instead, spray Aquila in a fine mist over the surface. Aquila breaks down greasy dirt particles, turning them to dust. Once dry, use a vacuum with a brush attachment on furniture to remove dust and dirt. For shoes, use a Nubuck brush, repeating as needed until clean. For heavily stained shoes, consider using a Nubuck eraser.

Question 31

How to Restore Nubucks Nap?

Accepted Answer

To maintain its velvet-like nap, Nubuck must be cleaned and brushed regularly; otherwise, it will flatten, become shiny, and eventually turn into smooth leather. For Nubuck boots or shoes, it's recommended to brush them gently after each wear. When it comes to Nubuck furniture, pay special attention to brushing headrests, armrests, and seating areas to preserve its texture.

Question 32

How to clean Nubuck?

Accepted Answer

Aquila All Purpose Leather Cleaner is the best choice for Nubuck, thanks to its gentle formula that’s safe for regular use on all types of leather, including Nubuck and Suede. Frequent cleaning prevents grease and dirt buildup, preserving the velvet-like finish. Clean and brush Nubuck regularly, especially in high-use areas, to maintain its soft nap. Cleaning once a month or every two months is usually enough, but high-use areas may need weekly attention.

Question 33

How to protect Nubuck leather?

Accepted Answer

To protect Nubuck, apply Sahara waterproofing and stain-proofing spray as soon as possible after purchase. Use 2 to 3 thin coats with 8 hours of dry time between each. For older leather, clean and brush it before applying Sahara. Refresh protection every two years with 1 or 2 coats. Avoid inhaling vapors; wear a mask, apply in a well-ventilated area, and vacate the room for a few minutes after use.

Question 34

What is Nubuck?

Accepted Answer

Nubuck is sanded leather with a velvet-like surface, often mistaken for suede but more durable as it comes from the top part (full grain) of the hide. Its soft texture and natural look make it ideal for furniture, clothing, and footwear. However, without protective coating, Nubuck is vulnerable and may not be suitable for homes with pets, young kids, or busy areas. But its beauty and comfort can outshine even the finest leathers.

Question 35

How do you clean Oiled leather?

Accepted Answer

Use Aquila to safely clean your oiled leather as often as needed, as it effectively dissolves dirt and dust that tend to stick to this type of leather, creating dark smudges. Simply spray Aquila and wipe—quick and easy, it helps preserve your leather. Over time, oiled leather naturally loses its oils, leading to drying, fading, and cracking, so it's crucial to regularly replenish these oils to maintain the leather's quality and appearance.

Question 36

What is oiled leather?

Accepted Answer

Oiled tanned leather, known for its natural and rugged look, is commonly used in hiking boots, mountain boots, boat shoes, tack, furniture, and clothing like cowboy hats and chaps. Treated with natural or synthetic oils after tanning, it boasts high water resistance. Its color varies based on the raw hides, oils, and sometimes dyes. Oily to the touch but not greasy, it's usually matte, thicker, and heavier than other leathers, yet supple. Oiled leather is durable, offers great value, and is easy to care for.

Question 37

How to clean and shine patent leather?

Accepted Answer

Caring for patent leather involves just two steps: cleaning and shining. After each use, clean with Aquila gentle leather cleaner and a soft cloth to prevent dirt from damaging the varnish and dulling the shine. Aquila effectively removes dirt and grease while protecting against chlorine and minerals. Avoid petroleum gels or Vaseline—they may give temporary shine but quickly attract dust, ruining the leather's look.

Question 38

What is Patent Leather?

Accepted Answer

Patent leather is regular leather with a high-gloss finish, achieved by applying a varnish or lacquer during the final tanning steps. The term "Patent" likely refers to protection, though ironically, the process was invented by American Mr. Boyden, who never patented it. Patent leather's shiny finish makes it popular for dance shoes, tuxedo dress shoes, handbags, purses, and clothing.

Question 39

What is Tenderly?

Accepted Answer

Tenderly is a softener that protects and gives leather a soft touch. Ideal for leather clothing like gloves, pants, and jackets, it suits all colors and is perfect for exotic leathers, kid, and lambskin—leathers that don't tolerate greasy, wax-based products. It also softens cowhide and more robust leathers. Use with URAD for best results on furniture or clothing. Apply with the sponge, gently rub in, and let dry for a few minutes.

Question 40

How much is very little?

Accepted Answer

USE VERY LITTLE! Treat URAD like a skin cream, not make-up. More isn’t better—just a small amount goes a long way. A good rule: you shouldn't see the product, only clean, shiny leather. Avoid filling stitches. Dip ½ inch of the sponge, wipe off excess, and spread evenly until no wet streaks remain.

Question 41

What is Carnauba wax?

Accepted Answer

Carnauba wax, a vegetal wax from the Copernicia Cerifera tree in South America, is known for its exceptional hardness and durability. Harvested from leaves multiple times a year, it takes about 200 leaves to produce 7 kg of wax. This yellowish wax with a pleasant palm scent is used in URAD cream for its unparalleled protection and brilliant, long-lasting shine.
